quite, Texas, is a suburb of the Dallas/Ft. Worth metropolitan area. The city was founded along the railroad as transportation was being expanded to the West. Because of this, the city was once — and still is — an important area for the transport of food and farming materials.

The city is located in Dallas and Kaufman counties. Mesquite, Texas, is located approximately 12 miles southeast of Dallas, and 250 miles northwest of Houston. The city falls in the Mountain Standard Time zone and is about 44 square-miles in area. On average, July is the hottest month, January is the coldest, and May is the wettest.

Mesquite is home to a United Parcel Service hub, and this hub is the largest employer in the city. The Dallas Regional Medical Center services the community's health needs. Texas A&M University has a nearby regional campus in Commerce, Texas. The city has a rich pioneer heritage, and there are many historical sites in the city that have been either restored or preserved as important local landmarks. Mesquite is home to a professional rodeo that allows competition at different skills levels.

There are many attractions is the city that appeal to a variety of tastes. The Devil’s Bowl Speedway offers outdoor racing on a dirt track. The Mesquite Arts Center hosts various art exhibits as well as symphony and theater productions. The Mesquite Golf Club is a 154-acre, 18-hole golf course and is open daily. The Rows of Texas is Mesquite’s shopping, dining, and entertainment district with more than 100 restaurants.

Accommodations for travelers can be found in a host of different establishments, from upscale hotels to smaller bed-and-breakfast inns. Many of the lodging choices are part of national chains. Visitors will want to book a hotel closest to the attraction that is most likely the center of their itinerary. Mesquite has a variety of things to do and see within walking distance of my hotels in the city.
